quench - punctuated sampler 12" review from BPM magazine, issue 73.

Funckarma records this time under one of their many aliases. For fans of their more prolific Funckarma work, the Quench guise is one that stays most stylistically aligned with their original moniker. Still very much at the top of their game, the Dutch brothers clock in a 6 track EP of sedated and heavily distorted breakbeat instrumentals, stuttering micro-edits and sublime atmospherics that give early collaborators Funkstörung a run for their money. Quench builds on the Artificial Intelligence model with meticulous composition and tasteful innovation in a similar vein as countrymen Speedy J and Phako or labelmates Proswell and Proem. (m50)
